Monster Hunter Online Servers Shutting Down

Tencent has announced the shut down of the Monster Hunter Online servers. The date of shut down will be December 31st, 2019 at 10:00 am China time. While the news is sad, there has been fewer and fewer updates to the game recently, so it does not come as a surprise. Tencent has already removed the game download from the Monster Hunter Online website and disabled new character creation. Accounts with characters on them are free to play until the date of shutdown at the end of the year.

The news of the shut down left the administrators of the Monster Hunter Online Community Discord server with a decision. After a small amount of deliberation the decision is to change the Discord server to a multi game server. Also, it will take on a more mature 18+ atmosphere due to past experience with issues that have arisen.

Monster Hunter Online will be missed, but it will go down in memory as fun times with friends and challenging monsters. Hopefully, someday the unique monsters that were created for Monster Hunter Online will make appearances in other Monster Hunter games.

Following is one of the more recent hunts I did with a guild member.
